basically, one of two good games for the PSP

I recently purchased a PSP , absolutely amazed by all the features and expandability.

THe PSP is good for everything, except games. Until now.

I tried so many games to tremendous dissapointment. THe graphics on many were fine (GTA liberty city stories, wipeout pure) but others were terrible outright (the con, the hustle: detroit streets, gripshift, frantix)

Pursuit Force is FUN - actually, its the best racer game out there too (which is weird...) So if you get it for the storyline-gameplay you will not be dissapointed. Its very reminiscent of 80's arcade games, but has checkpoints to prevent re-doing too much of the game.

If you are used to putting your game in sleep mode and doing something else (like me) you will have a bit of trouble since it wont allow you to do it unless you are actually in the middle of the action.

Pursuit force cannot dissapoint. I just wish it were longer. Sequel anyone?

*Just for your information, the other good game out there for PSP is Siphon Filter: Dark Mirror. The Brotherhood of the Blade series isnt bad, but the tedium can get to you.

Pursuit Force is an amazing addition to the racing-action genre, which saw a few successful games in the past. What makes this game so wonderful is the thrill of it - the ability to jump from vehicles to other ones, and the positioning of camera angles to create a grand effect. Pursuit Force has no plot other than you are an elite cop trained to pursue five infamous gangs until they leave your city.
And you get to accomplish this in style. Gameplay is divided into gangs, which are case files. You must finish missions with various ratings in order to move up within the force, and to take on new gangs. You are provided with the Equalizer, the police weapon. Once you are on the road, you hop aboard other vehicles and take the enemies guns, allowing for a wide variety of automatic and semi-automatic weapons.
The jumping from car to car is unique, well made and exciting. You have to time your jump sometimes a little more than others, but once you have locked it in; you can be a mile away and still complete the action. If your police bar is full, you can slowly jump down, slaughtering the enemies before you even steal their vehicle. Too cool. So much for your college essays when this game is before you.
The levels get very hard after you beat the first few gangs, but some alternative modes begin to open up in order to take breaks from the main Career mode. You get to race the other gangs, or free race against the clock. Both are fantastic addition to Pursuit Force since they are on their own worth getting the game. The racing feel of Pursuit is very realistic, without knocking off FPS, you get to feel the speed of the action. Replay is fun, and as you get better and better, you unlock more tracks, cheats and videos.
Although the main career mode is short, most PSP games are. You are given other things to do, so the game is a real value. The controls are perfect since the game was built around the PSP controls - it's not a transcription of another console's game. The land vehicles feel a lot more fun to drive than the boats, partly because the boats are so bogged down by the realities of water.
I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes racing games, but also like shooter games. This game is an amazing and innovative combination of the two.

GRAPHICS: 7/10 (The few cutscenes are awesome. Overall great graphics. I am hoping for a sequel.)

SOUND: 7/10 (Some levels have great soundtracks, others don't.)

CONTROLS: 9/10 (No issue with controls. The game was made for PSP, so the controls feel right. Cars handle beautifully; boats maybe less so.)

DIFFICULTY: 10/10 (Ultra hard. Its fun though; you will die, and sometimes three or four times, before you finish a level.)

LOAD TIMES: MEDIUM (Load times are not bad - not very low either. You will not be able to put the PSP into sleep mode during a load or menu screen.)

OVERALL: 9/10 (Amazing game, and great replay value. It doubles as one of PSP's best racer games as well.)

Fun in full force

This in my opinion is the best psp game yet!! I just love jumping right of your car on to the bad guys cars or any kind of vehicle. You never miss when firing which is a cool feature. The only down side is that it is not able to go into sleepmode unless your right in the action. The whole consecpt is to jump onto one guys car kill the guy in it. Take his car and drive around untill you find another car to jump on or boat or any vehicle. That's the basic concept. Thier is also land mission where you can get on foot and kill all the bad guys. List of pros and cons.

Pros:
1.Awsome acion consept
2.Great graphics
3.Tons of missions
4.(land and drive missions also)
5.lots of weapons to use

Cons:
1. no multiplayer
2. Can't go into sleep mode (at somtimes)

Bottom line it's a great game very reccomended!
A Nice Surprise

I actually bought this game used at Game Stop for $10 or $15 bucks. I'm glad I picked it up. Pursuit Force is a fun and action-packed police game that really gets your attention.

In Career mode you work your way up the hierarchy from an officer to a sergent to a captain. As you complete missions more are opened up for you. Mission include stopping an enemy from reaching a certain point, or protecting a convoy/mayor/informant, to shooting your way through obstacles. Some assignments incorporate more than one, and those are awesome!

Game play is pretty simple. You walk or drive, shoot, dodge, and jump onto other cars. It takes a few tries to coordinate yourself, but once you do it's fine. What I don't like is the lack of options when wanting to change controls. You only get two options, and don't get to set the buttons the way that best works for you. A drawback but you get used to it.

Another is that you don't get to choose weapons. You simply hold the "shoot" button, and when you run out of ammunition the weapon changes on its own. The positive is that you don't have to waste time collecting ammo or worry about running out of weapons at a critical moment. The negative is that some guns shoot much slower than others, or have a limited amount of bullets, and it takes a second when the weapons have to change. But again, you get used to it.

The cars are very specific in their type of handling. SUVs drive like SUVs, sports cars like sports cars, etc. The boats though....well, I hate trying to drive the boats. Maybe that's how they handle in real life?

They aren't a lot of mode choices for game play. Career mode is the by far the best, what with the creative scenarios and various mission requirements. As you progress in the game each mission gets more complex. Time trial is just you driving through a stage for no real purpose. A free range mode where you can just run around and arrest bad guys or chase bank robbers would be great, but oh well. You also have race mode, which isn't too bad. There are various missions with this as well, but basically you race other folks for whatever reason (to get the atmom bomb, to reach a witness, etc.). It's a good mode for, say, when you're waiting in the doc's office or something.

All in all this game truly is fun. There's even a sequel coming out in 2008. So if you like action games, and love police plots, I think you can't really go wrong with this one.
Awesome action film in your hands

This game is quite honestly highly entertaining. It feels like you are playing the role of a super cop in a Summer Blockbuster Action film jumping from vehicle to vehicle and gunning down the bad guys. Included are racing games and time trials to extend the action game play. Personally, I give it fours stars for me but for the "action junky" I'd safely give it a five stars. I'm impressed with how polished this game is too... Nothing to complain about as far as graphics, sound, load times, etc...
